James – Brave Shepherd Mix Looking for His Forever Home
James came to us from the Rio Grande Valley after he was found alone on a rural road, badly injured and struggling to survive. We believe he was hit by a car. He was underweight, his belly was swollen from parasites, he had an open wound, and his left leg and hip were severely damaged.
Even in that condition, he met the world with an unbelievable amount of sweetness. His gentle nature never faded, even when he was at his most vulnerable.
James underwent surgery to repair his injuries and has since completed his full physical therapy program. His doctor says his hip looks good, and while he still uses the injured leg less than 30 percent of the time, he’s happy, active, and loves being part of a home.
For the next couple of months, we’ll be watching his progress as he continues to grow and build confidence. If his mobility doesn’t improve, amputation may end up being the kindest option so he isn’t carrying around a limb he doesn’t use. We’ll also be getting another orthopedic opinion soon to help guide that decision.
James is officially available for adoption, and we want his future family to know that Rescue PAC will continue to cover all care related to his current medical needs. That responsibility will not fall on his adopter.
He’s a resilient, affectionate young shepherd who’s already overcome so much. Now he just needs someone who’ll give him the safe, loving life he fought so hard to reach.
