Hospice Dog

Meet Dee!! Our good friend Connie who is the owner of Barn Dogs TX saw that Dee was placed on the euthanasia list at the San Marcos Animal Shelter. Connie felt an immediate connection and felt something special for Dee. Connie’s middle name is Dee and her daughter’s Aunt who passed from breast cancer in 2019 was named Dee.
Dee has a suspected brain tumor that is terminal. Connie felt that she was called to be Dee’s permanent foster and requested us to pull him from the shelter so he could live out his life on a farm surrounded by love, chickens and people who truly care about him.
We have pulled dogs from a shelters, rescued dogs from the streets, taken in owner surrenders, but this will be the first time we pulled a dog that is on hospice. The vet has given Dee approximately 8 months to live but only time will tell. He is not suffering. He is still wagging his tail just fine at the site of a new bed and belly rubs. We will not allow him to suffer and will monitor his health closely.
If you feel inclined to donate a healthy nutritional meal, toys, or monetary donations with a note on what you’d like us to provide him then you can reach out to us. Dee is not available for adoption and in a permanent foster home.
Thank you for always supporting our dogs in care and our efforts to support the community.
