Meet Maci
Maci is another heartbreaking reminder of the crisis facing dogs in the Rio Grande Valley. She was one of seven dogs who desperately needed someone to step up, and thankfully, Maci is now safe in a foster home.
When Maci first arrived, she was shut down, timid, and unsure of everything around her. She had spent time on her own, fending for herself, and it was clear she had learned to be cautious just to survive.
But rescue changes things.
Within just 24 hours, we started seeing little pieces of Maci’s personality emerge. She began to accept love, show affection, and even let her playful side peek through. She’s learning that she doesn’t have to be afraid anymore. She doesn’t have to guard herself. She can simply be a dog.
Maci’s story is still being written, but the difference a safe place and a little patience have already made is incredible.
And unfortunately, Maci is just one of countless dogs facing the ongoing crisis in the RGV. There are so many dogs waiting for their chance—waiting for someone to see them, save them, and give them the opportunity to become the dog they were always meant to be.
This is what rescue is about. Giving them a chance to heal, to trust, and to finally feel safe.
You don’t have to save them all. Sometimes, saving one is everything.
