This cutie was found wondering a narrow road in southern Travis Co. He managed to make it across the highway into Hays county. Multiple people began reporting sightings of him and feared he’d be hit by a car. Our team managed to trap him and take him into care. Social media post have gone up with no owner coming forward. So at this time we have given him the name Nyx short for Onyx.
Here’s what we know… Nyx is a 3-5 year old male, Shepard mix weighing 59 pounds. He did NOT have a microchip and he is NOT neutered. We will be getting him neutered soon and microchipped. He is heart worm negative (yay!) But X-rays under sedation showed left hip dysplasia.
Since being in a temporary foster home we’ve found that he’s got some resource guarding to work on. He is good with kids and submissive dog. He loves to play, walk, and cuddle with humans. Onyx is potty trained and great in the kennel. He's a quick learner and has learned to sit, leave it, and wait. Onyx will need slow intros with new people and animals. We feel he would do best in a home where he’s the only dog unless you are skilled with working with dog behavior.
*Adoption fees for all dogs are $250 and include all essential vaccines, heart worm treatment (if necessary), a microchip and spay/neuter.
